  • Overview

    The Construction Inspector will be responsible for overseeing the contractor’s construction activities for general compliance with the plans and technical specifications and will provide daily reports of the contractor’s work and documents contractor non-conforming work.



    • Monitors progress of work by the contractor. Informs Construction Manager or Lead Inspector on a daily basis as to the overall status of the project, any current or potential design or construction problems, and prepare a daily report.
    • Evaluates contractor manpower and equipment being used on the project (contractor’s planned vs. actual schedule).
    • Coordinates activities with other inspectors. Schedule inspections, monitor reports for compliance with contract documents.
    • Coordinates and monitors the QA/QC plans for conformance with construction documents.
    • Schedules and coordinates quality assurance testing requirements.
    • Monitors failing quality assurance testing with corresponding passing tests.
    • Coordinates site security, maintenance, and access plan for contractor.
    • Verifies contractor’s work-in-place and assist in the evaluation of contractor’s monthly payment applications and change order estimates.
    • Attends contractor’s weekly Progress Meeting as requested.
    • Facilitates resolution of field problems or discrepancies in drawings-dimensions, disputes between contractors, and coordination of testing personnel and contractor testing needs.
    • Coordinates contractor activities and areas of work for overall project with emphasis on total project.



    High school/trade school graduate or equivalent construction knowledge and experience. Five (5) years of previous experience inspecting or installing heavy civil work at a major hub airport working within the Air Operation Area. Knowledge of airfield electrical and signage requirements. DOT or other standard Certification as may be applicable. Good oral and written communication skills, good computer skills, and have the ability to work effectively with others. Knowledge of the requirements and procedures of working within the Air Operations Area. Ability to obtain PHL-SIDA Security Clearance.
