  • Overview

    Prepares mechanical/HVAC calculations and oversees production drawings for assigned projects in accordance with standards and department procedures.


    • Performs field investigations & surveys prior to design;
    • Prepare design for HVAC and piping systems;
    • Preparation of cost estimates and analyzing material costs, quality and quantity;
    • Develop an understanding of the N.Y. State Mechanical Code;
    • Preparation of preliminary and final designs from field notes and data files;
    • Prepare project drawings consistent with company standards and in compliance with municipal and agency requirements;
    • Supervises the development of design concepts and reports;
    • Supervises and manages project designs and approvals and clients relationships;
    • Presents and/or assists at public presentations on technical/design issues;
    • Provides mentoring assistance;
    • Coordinates activities with other group manages;
    • Provides guidance and technical contributions regarding project design and details;
    • Works with marketing and business development staff to assist in the procurement of work;
    • Performs mechanical calculations including Heat Loss / Heat Gain calculations;
    • Participates in in-depth study projects, working independently on technical engineering assignments and providing support to project engineer or architect; and
    • Occasional out-of-state travel to job sites.


    Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required. At least five years of experience in HVAC engineering design, calculations, and production drawing oversight also preferred. Must have professional licensure in New York. Licensure in multiple states a plus. Candidate must demonstrate effective leadership and project management experience, as well as the ability to prepare comprehensive engineering reports. Must have experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel and other Mechanical engineering design software such as Trane Trace. Experience with Revit is desirable, but not required. Must possess excellent technical and people skills, along with a positive attitude. Excellent references required.
