Overview

Fully competent Architect in all aspects of subject matter and assignments; plans and conducts work requiring judgment in independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation / modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise the day-to-day and the long term growth and direction of the Architectural Department;
  • Development and execution of business plan objectives for the Architectural Group, including assistance with business development;
  • Promote a team oriented environment amongst architectural staff and other office disciplines;
  • Responsible for all project management to completion of the five project phases, including scope, schedule and budget;
  • Provides mentoring of all architectural staff, including identifying training opportunities;
  • Supervises the preparation and checks the accuracy of contract documents. Incorporates applicable codes, construction techniques and sequences in various projects including all aspects of cross discipline coordination;
  • Supervises and/or performs site observations such as recording and reporting of existing conditions and construction progress. Handles problems and questions as they occur during construction;
  • Responsible for project cost control;
  • Responsible for external communications and meetings with clients;
  • Writes reports;
  • Responsible for major design decisions involving spatial, aesthetic elements and detailing of system and materials;
  • Documents the progressions of a complex project and follow through approvals and construction;
  • Makes public presentations;
  • Exercises professional judgment in areas of contractual liability; and
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Architectural Technology required. Must have at least fifteen years of experience with architectural design, construction principles, and design project management including experience in office, commercial, institutional and multi-family residential facilities. Must have a license in the practice of Architecture in New York State, NCARB preferred. Experience with AutoCAD, Architectural Desktop and Revit required.
