Overview

We are seeking interns for our Ontario and Irvine offices.  The part-time, year-round Engineer Intern (Transportation) will assist Transportation Engineers on various project support roles. In addition to typical office assistant work, this person will work on preliminary engineering studies, development of exhibits, plans, specifications, quantities and construction administration for public and private roadway systems, and other transportation-related projects. Hours and days of work are flexible to work around the Intern’s class schedule (within regular business hours).

Responsibilities

  • Familiarize himself/herself with engineering plans and details
  • Perform CAD work (MicroStation and/or AutoCAD)
  • Exposure to 3D design and modeling using InRoads and OpenRoads
  • Perform quantity take-offs
  • Run analyses and evaluate results
  • General office support
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

Qualifications

Requires a minimum of 2 years college completed, actively taking engineering classes working toward a B.S. in Civil Engineering. A focus on transportation studies is highly preferred. Experience with Caltrans District 8 and familiarity with the Highway Design Manual are a plus.
