  • Overview

    T.Y. Lin International is seeking a Sr. Project Manager (Aviation) requiring technical education in engineering or closely related field and proficiency in planning, design and construction support for aviation-related airfield, infrastructure, facilities, and landside projects. Duties will include but not be limited to: the management of large scale aviation projects; coordinating all technical and project-related activities, including conceptual design; detailed engineering; site and field layouts, construction administration, commissioning and activation; serving as point of contact for all interactions with the client, the project team and various sub-consultants. We have an immediate opportunity to serve as the Deputy Design Manager for a large design team for the Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Utilities and LAMP Enabling Projects (LULEP), with future opportunities on a wide variety of other projects and programs.

     

    Additional duties of the position include evaluation of alternative project configurations, phasing scenarios and construction techniques; preparation of studies; development of design and construction packaging alternatives; technical support related to airfield, terminal and/or landside infrastructure construction cost and scheduling; quality control reviews; coordination of design and construction of projects; coordination with airport stakeholders and 3rd parties and agencies having jurisdictions, among others.

    Responsibilities

    • Serve as point of contact with client and sub-consultants
    • Develop, negotiate, and proactively manage project budget and schedules
    • Evaluate alternative project configurations, including packaging and phasing alternatives
    • Develop production work plans, schedules and budgets
    • Prepare technical studies
    • Ensure proper codes, regulations and standards are being used on projects
    • Supervise, coordinate and review the work of other engineers and designers
    • Provide the design staff with guidance and assistance on projects
    • Responsible for the successful completion of projects under his/her direction
    • Develop technical specifications & assist clients with bidding support
    • Coordinate design disciplines and subconsultant deliverables, and provide Construction support on projects as needed
    • Coordinate proactively with project team (internal and external members) and project stakeholders to ensure success in meeting the client’s objectives and keeping the project on-track
    • Provide hands-on involvement in overseeing the development of the project’s various tasks and deliverables while maintaining the highest quality of service in accordance with TYLI’s Quality Management System
    • Provide leadership, technical support, oversight and training of staff as necessary
    • Perform a significant role in marketing of aviation-related services
    • Other assignments as needed

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field
    • Licensure as a Professional Engineer in California, or ability to get reciprocity from another state within one year
    • Possess a minimum of 15 years of active airport design and construction experience with project size exceeding $25M
    • Must have superior project planning, design, management, and project execution skills with demonstrated skills in successfully completing projects “on time and on budget” results!
    • Highly effective communication skills; both written, one-on-one, and within a group and team environment. Must be a good listener and a highly persuasive communicator with well thought out ideas and a clear point of view.
    • Ability to interface effectively with office and corporate staff, peers and superiors and interact effectively with client staff and management, sub-consultants, project and construction management teams, airport stakeholders and others.
    • Have proven accountability of quality control for both engineering design and construction.
    • Have a proven ability to lead staff, multi-disciplined design teams and to provide guidance as needed.
