Overview

Construction Manager will be responsible for managing inspection and documentation services for a large scale MTA|NYCT project which includes multiple inspectors working round-the-round. Position Requires managing multiple inspector teams during nights weekends.

Candidate must be demonstrably familiar with codes and standards related to structural design for some or all of these agencies.

Responsibilities

 

Selected candidate will provide complete management of a 24/7 subway infrastructure initiative addressing critical needs for the subway system. Work will included:

  • Management of multiple construction inspectors deployed system-wide.
  • Evaluation of field conditions and deployment of contractor’s remedial work.
  • Project work plan preparation, resource allocation, monitoring project technical progress on a daily, weekly and monthly basis and preparation of written project progress, technical and special issue reports.
  • Implementation of established project management, construction engineering and inspection safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Management of track outages, work train schedules and flagger deployment
  • Perform oversight of construction inspection and materials testing.
  • Ensure the application of project specifications and the execution of plans.
  • Field issue resolution.
  • Preparation of as-built drawings.
  • Review contractor’s submittals.
  • Review contractor pay estimates.
  • Close coordination of work with agency/owner, contractor, utilities and other stakeholders as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Structural/Civil Engineering required; Professional Engineer license or CCM/PMP certification a plus. Experience of 10+ years in structural work related to transit systems and tunnels. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills; proven leadership abilities; demonstrated record of performance in managing multi-million dollar construction contracts; and ability to manage a multi-disciplined staff of office engineers, field engineers/inspectors and project support staff.
