Overview

The Construction Engineer would be working on a NYC DDC projects. Position is also referred to by the Client as Office Engineer. Construction Engineer shall assist the Resident Engineer in all services necessary for administration of the Project, including coordination of construction work, review of construction documents and contractor invoicing. The Engineer shall provide the required services for the duration of the Project (i.e., pre-construction, construction and close-out).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating and working with inspectors for field reviews, data collection and analysis, studies and forecasting.
  • Verify construction documents to field conditions.
  • Perform in-depth research to develop recommendations for approaches, concepts, materials or equipment selection.
  • Assist in collecting and managing data for engineering or construction work such as to perform quantity take-offs for development of engineering estimate.
  • Assure that drawings, calculations and designs are in accordance with company production and design standards and strengths, follow Quality Assurance and Control procedure
  • Prepare project data for schedules, assist in preparing schedules and budgets in order to monitor progress reports.
  • Assist in change orders negotiations with contractors.
  • Review contractor invoicing to verify quantities and progress. Entering contractor’s invoice into Client’s online system
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree preferred, 3+ years of inspection or field experience is required.
  • Requires knowledge of engineering principals and industry standards.
  • ASCE Grade II and/or NICET Grade II highly preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings required.
  • Experience coordinating with multiple contractors and trades at one time in the field.
  • Knowledge of meeting construction schedules and budgets.
