Overview

The Senior Construction Inspector would be working on a NYC DDC and NYCDEP project from start to close-out. The project involves the installation of Best Management Practices (BMPs), environmental planting work, two chambers and new storm and sanitary sewers and water main replacement. This project is initiated to eliminate severe flooding and creating four BMPs. Also, new sanitary sewers are provided to eliminate existing septic tanks and existing sewer in very poor condition.

 

The Senior Construction Inspector will perform field inspection and analysis of infrastructure projects with little supervision and will be responsible for supervision of contractor, inspection of daily work performed, supervising other inspection staff and field coordination. Additionally, reviewing and creating engineering drawings as needed and construction field reviews.

The Senior Construction Inspector will be responsible for ensuring required construction work is properly executed, completed in a timely fashion and conforms to the requirements of the construction documents, safety protocols and to good construction practice.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field visits and perform construction administration to ensure work is in compliance with plans, specifications, standard operating procedures and construction control documents.
  • Oversee other construction or site-work inspectors, leveraging engineering knowledge to ensure quality work is being produced by inspectors, technicians, and that proper codes and standards are being complied on assigned tasks and projects.
  • Participate in field reviews and data collection and analysis, studies and forecasting.
  • Verify construction documents to field conditions.
  • Perform in-depth research to develop recommendations for approaches, concepts, materials or equipment selection.
  • Collect, assimilate and manage data for engineering or construction work such as to perform quantity take-offs for development of engineering estimate.
  • Assure that drawings, calculations and designs are in accordance with company production and design standards and strengths, follow Quality Assurance and Control procedure
  • Prepare project data for schedules, assist in preparing schedules and budgets in order to monitor progress reports.
  • Assist in change orders negotiations with contractors.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  •  

 

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred and/or 10+ years of inspection or field experience is helpful.
  • P.E. License required.
  • Requires knowledge of engineering principals and industry standards.
  • ASCE Grade III and/or NICET Grade III highly preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings required.
  • Experience coordinating with multiple contractors and trades at one time in the field.
  • Knowledge of meeting construction schedules and budgets.
