  • Overview

    T.Y. Lin International's Irvine office is seeking a Bridge Engineer who will be responsible for the analysis, design and plan production for bridge projects. The hired candidate will support the engineering team’s development of construction bid documents. Knowledge of AASHTO and Caltrans bridge design specifications is a plus.


    • Perform structural design and analysis for bridge structures using approved computer programs and manual computations in accordance with accepted bridge design practice and design specifications and guidelines.
    • Perform quantity take-offs and cost estimates for project budgeting and evaluation of alternatives.
    • Perform geometric layout.
    • Develop structural details for non-standard bridge components.
    • Direct and review production of drawings by CAD technicians.
    • Perform independent checking of structural designs and plans.
    • Prepare technical construction specifications.
    • Perform design calculations, analysis using engineering formulas for designing bridge structures culverts and retaining walls.
    • Research and review design options for both technical & economical impact.
    • Prepare plans, specifications and estimates to DOT standards.
    • Prepare material quantities for structures.
    • Other assignments as needed.


    Master’s degree with bridge design experience desired. PE license or ability to obtain within one year is required. 5+ years of related experience required. Applicant should have technical expertise of the design and construction of highway, railroad, and pedestrian bridges. Experience with structural software packages, as well as experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, AutoCAD and/or MicroStation a plus. Must possess excellent technical and communication skills.
