  • Overview

    Assist Project Manager with plan design and production. Perform detailed design, analysis, engineering calculations and develop construction documents for a variety of transportation and civil engineering projects. Provide assistance with creation and submission of technical reports, specifications and calculations. Candidates experience should include involvement in urban, rural highway and intersection design, traffic, drainage and stormwater management. Coordination of survey, grading, permits and utilities a plus.


    • Perform assignments using prescribed methods requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
    • Adjust and correlate data, research standards and PennDOT policies, design options and document findings.
    • Perform calculations and analysis using engineering formulas.
    • Plan and design and layout of highway plans and details, including horizontal and vertical alignments, roadway geometrics including intersections and interchanges, roadway drainage, typical sections, Right-of-Way plans, pavement marking and signing plans and roadway cross-sections.
    • Perform hydraulic analysis and design of culverts
    • Design of stormwater management systems and preparation of erosion and sediment control plans
    • Prepare roadway design plans, profiles and geometric layout designs.
    • Participate in field reviews and data collection, including traffic studies
    • Assist in preparing Work Zone Traffic Control plans ( M&P of T)
    • Organize and maintain project files.
    • Prepare plans, special provisions and estimates.
    • Other assignments as needed.


    Requires a BSCE degree and EIT. 5+ years experience, PE a plus. Applicable experience in highway and bridge design projects. Excellent working knowledge of MicroStation and InRoads required. Knowledge of PennDOT and Turnpike procedures and standards required. Must be capable of effective oral and written communication; work in a team-oriented manner and possess exceptional analytical and organizational skills.
