  • Overview

    T.Y. Lin International is seeking an Assistant Engineer who will be aiding in the planning and design of public stormwater quality and drainage related projects, including hydrologic and hydraulic studies, and (PS&E) documents. Will support projects related to roadways, highways, bridges, rail and transit systems, airports, etc. The primary duties of this position rely upon knowledge of and application of basic and integrated engineering principles, fundamental theories, engineering techniques and procedures related to fields of drainage and stormwater quality. Will need to leverage this knowledge when using technology and applying advanced mathematical operations. May assist with business development, construction services and field services for drainage projects and programs.

    Responsibilities

    • The applicant will assist in the preparation of planning studies and creation of design plans for a variety of project types
    • Typical projects include drainage studies and plans, roadway drainage systems, storm drain systems, bridge hydraulics, and stormwater quality projects
    • Calculate quantities and prepare engineering estimates
    • Assist in the preparation of technical reports, letters, and memos for development of stormwater and drainage projects
    • Perform preliminary field investigations and existing data research to be used in preparation of a working project base file
    • May assist in marketing efforts and participate in presentations
    • Other assignments as needed

    Qualifications

    Requires Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Required experience of 0-2 years. EIT strongly preferred. Proficiency using basic design software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microstation, ESRI ArcGIS) preferred and familiarity with drainage design software (e.g. StormCAD, WSPG, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS) desired. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required.
