  • Overview

    This is a key position in NYC office. This person will serve as a Senior Project Manager for the facility deisgn group in NYC. The primary responsibility will be managing a group of structural engineers working on various building design projects. Structural design for private and pullic buildings up to 10 stories will be this groups responsibility. The Senior PM is also responsible for business development for public and private clients. Will alsobe responsible for preparing technical and fee proposals, presentations and fee negotiation with the client. The Senior PM is responsibility for directing and managing projects. The Senior PM is responsible for managing project team and training and mentoring assigned staff.

     

    Responsibilities

    Project Functions

    • Provides a significant contribution to winning projects as Project Manager or key team member.
    • Lead responsibility for the preparation of the project proposals for surface transportation clients.
    • Initial review of contracts for compliance with TYLI policies and procedures.
    • Directs the preparation, tracking and submission of the project deliverables.
    • Preparation and tracking of project schedules and delivery of projects on-time.
    • Preparation and tracking of project work tasks and budgets and delivery of projects within budgets.
    • Tracking of additional and out-of-scope work. Communication with clients, negotiation of fees for additional services and delivery of contract modifications for such services.
    • Client contact and communication. Managing Client expectations and assuring client satisfaction related to project.
    • Supervision and coaching of other Project Managers and technical staff as required.
    • Responsible for project quality. Assures QA/QC processes are completed on each project.

    Staff Development

    • Support and assistance in Project Manager training.
    • Support in staff development.

    Business Development/Marketing

    • Learn, understand and be able to communicate TYLI capabilities, in delivering structural design for building projects.
    • Identify potential markets, clients and opportunities.
    • Develop/Maintain relationships with current and potential clients and teaming partners. Serve as Client Manager for certain clients, when requested.
    • Participate in developing, executing and delivering local business plans for marketing existing and potential clients.
    • Participate in go/no-go decisions for projects.
    • Proposal Preparation
    • Serve as lead on proposal preparation and delivery, when requested.
    • Prepare scope/schedule text.
    • Prepare/review fees estimates – TYLI and Subconsultants.
    • Negotiation with staff, client and sub consultants.
    • Assist in and lead, when requested, delivery of winning proposals.

    Other

    • Assists Unit Manager and Line of Business Manager n forecasting and implementing the surface transportation component of the annual operation plan.

    Qualifications

     

    More than 10 years experience in structural designs of building structures. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited engineering curriculum. Graduate level education desirable. Professional Engineer’s License in New York. Experience working with architects, developer and government agencies as structural designer or Project Manager. Experience working with New York city subway stations and any other commuter rail stations is required.
