Functions in a key technical role in both conventional and alternative delivery bridge projects. Prepares and supervises the preparation of design calculations and reports; oversees preparation of drawings for projects and assignments of varying complexity and scope in accordance with standards (i.e., AASHTO, NYSDOT, NYSTA) and department procedures.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred) required from an engineering program accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, Inc (EAC/ABET). Must have at least 5 - 10 years of structural design experience in bridges and specialty structures. Must have a NYS Professional Engineering license obtained by passing an 8-hour NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and an 8-hour NCEES Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam. Requires advanced knowledge of Structural design and analysis software, including STAAD, SAP2000, Merlin-Dash, LEAP and MDXK. Experience with MathCAD, AutoCAD and Microstation a plus.
