  • Overview

    The Construction Engineer (office engineer) would be working on construction management projects in NY metro area. Position is referred to in CM industry as Office Engineer. Office Engineer shall assist the Resident Engineer in all services necessary for administration of the Project, including coordination of construction work, review of construction documents and contractor invoicing. The Office Engineer shall provide the required services for the duration of the Project (i.e., pre-construction, construction and close-out).

    Responsibilities

    • Coordinating and working with inspectors for field reviews, data collection and analysis, studies and forecasting.
    • Verify construction documents to field conditions.
    • Assist in the in-depth research to develop recommendations for approaches, concepts, materials or equipment selection.
    • Assist in collecting and managing data for engineering or construction work such as to perform quantity take-offs for development of engineering estimate.
    • Assist in assure that drawings, calculations and designs are in accordance with company production and design standards and strengths, follow Quality Assurance and Control procedure
    • Assist in the preparation of project data for schedules, assist in preparing schedules and budgets in order to monitor progress reports.
    • Assist in change orders negotiations with contractors.
    • Assist in reviewing contractor invoicing to verify quantities and progress. Entering contractor’s invoice into Client’s online system
    • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications

     
    • BS in Civil Engineering or related field preferred.
    • EIT Certification Preferred.
    • 2+ years of office engineer experience is required.
    • Requires knowledge of engineering principals and industry standards.
    • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings required.
    • Experience coordinating with multiple contractors and trades at one time in the field.
    • Knowledge of meeting construction schedules and budgets.
