  • Overview

    The Senior Benefits Administrator will be responsible for overseeing, communicating, implementing, and administering all areas of TYLI’s employee benefits programs and employee wellness initiatives. This position will also manage and communicate company policies and programs to employees, and partner with the HR Director to ensure that programs are compliant with all Federal, State and Local legislation.

    Success in this position requires a good mix of a strong analytical and data-driven mindset, with the ability to step back and see the “big picture”, to ensure accuracy, competitiveness and insights for our overall benefits strategy; as well as hands-on, operational experience, and solid working knowledge of external market benchmarks for benefits and wellness offerings. A successful Senior Benefits Administrator will also demonstrate strong teamwork and collaborative skills, working effectively with other members of the HR team, as well as employees at all levels of the organization.


    • Collaborate with vendors, benefits carriers and consultants for the implementation and/or management of health care benefits, disability programs, life insurance, Employee Retirement Savings Plan (ERSP), wellness programs, 401(k), PTO plans and other benefits·

    • Provide benchmarking and analysis to ensure programs are current, compliant, and competitive.  Conduct internal Benefits Focus Groups to gather feedback and conduct market research for decisions on program design

    • Drive the implementation, maintenance and improvement of company benefits programs, as necessary


    • Coordinate plan renewal and open enrollment, ensuring timely and accurate renewals, enrollment and administration in accordance with plan documents, legal regulations

    • Coordinate with HR Generalists to administer LOA and ensure proper tracking and reporting, including but not limited to FMLA/CRFA, disability accommodation requests, personal leaves, short-and long-term disability, and managing process for benefit premium payments for employees on leave

    • Act as point of contact for Workers’ Compensation; Report employee injuries to carrier in accordance to deadline requirements; coordinate work status updates and employee communication throughout the life of claim(s); advise regarding work restrictions and return to work statuses

    • Conduct employee benefit workshops and new hire orientations; educate all levels of employees regarding benefits to assure employee knowledge to assist them in making appropriate choices; monitor benefit utilization and ensure quick and courteous service

    • Process and audit benefit changes timely and accurately; regularly audit benefit deductions in HRIS system for accuracy

    • Spearhead employee wellness initiatives including coordination of employee wellness events, vendor participation and employee communications

    • Conduct in-house COBRA and disability leave administration

    • Work with partner vendors, carriers and consultants to assure compliance including COBRA, 5500 reports, ACA compliance, discrimination testing, etc.·

    • Maintain summary plan description records and associated forms, documents and communications; manage required filings, reports and audits related to the administration of employee benefit programs

    • Document, maintain, and communicate the administrative procedures for benefits processes

    • Manage and provide benefit reporting, including enrollment statistics, cost and claim analysis and trend data in coordination with the benefits broker

    • Be the subject matter expert and main point of contact for employee benefit inquiries

    • Act as the conduit for the benefit value proposition and maintain strong partnership with all team members

    • Be company’s HIPAA Privacy Officer

    • Manage ex-pat benefits, as needed

    • Other assignments as needed


    • 7+ years’ experience in employee benefits, including but not limited to health insurance, 401k, disability, FMLA, CFRA, COBRA, ERISA and HIPAA. **CEBS certification preferred.


    • Bachelor's’ degree in HR, Business, Finance or a related discipline


    • Strong understanding of HR policies and practices, state and federal employment laws.


    • Proficient with technology; you can easily pick up new tools and systems and you're a pro at the basics like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. You have exposure to various HRIS and Payroll systems and can navigate them seamlessly.


    • Highly effective verbal and written communications skills to collaborate, develop partnerships and encourage trust of vendors, managers, and all team members


    • Solid project management skills with an ability to keep projects on track and deliver results


    • Demonstrable ability to execute and improve processes


    • Good judgment and discretion when dealing with sensitive information


    • Ability to be self-sufficient, take initiative and be proactive
