Overview

Our Tempe, AZ office is seeking a Roadway Engineer.  The Roadway Engineer will be completing design efforts, overseeing/supporting production as well as construction oversight for roadway projects within the Tempe Unit.  

Responsibilities

  • Perform calculations and analysis for roadway, drainage, irrigation, and utility projects
  • CADD layout of highway plans and details
  • Compute horizontal and vertical geometry of roads, storm drain and irrigation facilities
  • Complete CADD modeling efforts for roadway, drainage and irrigation design projects
  • Create and produce CADD drawings and details
  • Compose and develop technical reports, letters and memorandums
  • Quantity take-off and tabulation
  • Review shop drawing submittals
  • Work with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Microsoft Word, Project and Excel
  • Coordinate day to day activities with staff and subconsultants on various projects
  • Perform out-of-office duties such as project site visits, site inspection and attend meetings
  • Potential roadway and civil design support to be performed on projects in other parts of the Western Region (Albuquerque, San Diego, Los Angeles, etc.)
  • Construction oversight (i.e. document control, evaluate contractor request for extra work and contract time extensions, monitor job progress and track quantities, coordinate with agency inspectors)
  • Other assignments as needed

Qualifications

This position requires a B.S.C.E. degree, Engineer in Training or Professional Engineer license and general knowledge of roadway design documentation for public infrastructure projects in the State of Arizona. Experience completing roadway design projects can range between 4 and 10 years for this position. Knowledge in both AutoCAD and MicroStation is required. Knowledge in both Civil 3D and InRoads design software is preferable.
