Overview

T.Y. Lin International's Bay Area Unit is seeking a Senior Rail Engineer (Transit) to work on transportation design, including alignment design for railroad track (transit and/or freight) and other civil projects.

Responsibilities

• Work with a team of engineers on alignment design and other transportation projects.
• Prepare and oversee layouts of track alignment, including special track work such as turnouts, crossovers and diamond crossings.
• Prepare and review geometric details of track alignments including horizontal and vertical curves and curve data.
• Perform calculations and design details for conformance to code specified loadings and strength.
• Research and report on findings for design code issues.
• Review shop drawing submittals.
• Organize and maintain project files.
• Quantity take-off for project engineer’s estimate.
• Prepare specifications for track work, including special track, earthwork, and drainage.
• Develop project specific design criteria.
• Other assignments as needed.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE).
  • Experience must include 6+ years of alignment design experience for railroad track (transit and/or freight) and transportation projects.
  • A PE License is required or the ability to obtain a license within 6 months.
  • The position requires knowledge of alignment design and analysis software, including InRail and Autodesk Civil 3D and CADD programs such as AutoCAD and Microstation.
  • Periodic travel required.
