  • Overview

     

    Our New York, NY office is currently seeking an entry level Engineer in Training to become a part of a dynamic structural team that works on a multitude of building projects.  This work includes parking structures, multi-use building rehabilitations, new buildings, and expansions.  Individual will prepare structural calculations, drawings, sketches, and performs or oversees production drawings for assigned projects in accordance with standards (i.e., ACI, AISC, IBC, ICRI, PTI and etc.) and department procedures.  Ability to complete tasks with minimal oversite desired.

     
     
     

    Responsibilities

     
    • Perform analysis and design of various structural systems, using STAAD, ETABS, SAP2000, Enercalc, MathCAD and other structural design packages;
    • Perform non-linear analysis and seismic design;
    • Conduct analysis and design for buildings, garages, viaducts, dams, tunnels and retaining walls;
    • Perform structural calculations (steel, concrete, masonry and pre-stressed concrete);
    • Prepare detailed engineering reports and assist in developing project standards and specifications;
    • Perform condition assessments of existing steel and concrete structures under the guidance of senior staff;
    • Prepare or oversee production drawings and details, utilizing AutoCAD or Microstation;
    • Prepare preliminary and final designs from field notes and data files, specifically concrete and steel rehabilitation, including post-tensioned structures;
    • Read and interpret engineering sketches, maps, survey field notes, aerial photographs and drawings;
    • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and analyzing material costs, quality and quantity.
     
     

    Qualifications

     
    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred) required from an engineering program accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, Inc (EAC/ABET). 
    • Engineer In Training (EIT) Certification preferred.
    • Must have a minimum of 3-5 years experience in the structural engineering and building assessments.
    • Must have education in the design of steel and concrete and structural analysis.
    • Requires knowledge of Structural design and analysis software, including STAAD, SAP2000 or ETABS.
    • Must demonstrate experience in the assessment of existing structures, including post-tensioned concrete structures and the development of rehabilitation projects.  
    • Experience with MathCAD, AutoCAD and Microstation a plus.
