Overview

We are looking for a Field Engineer who is highly dependable and with a strong work ethic who will be working in Miami Florida reviewing casting operations and precast segment erection for segmental bridge viaducts. This Engineer will be a registered professional engineer in the State of Florida with solid engineering principles and code knowledge. This individual must have the ability to use computer software for geometry control. Most of the time will be spent in the field office monitoring the casting operations. On occasion, this individual will go to the project office to attend project meetings. The Field Engineer shall be able to work in a collaborative work environment and eager to learn from others, strongly values relationships and interaction with people, can maintain a balanced perspective about change and adapt when necessary, is an analytical thinker with above-average problem-solving skills, and has exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Has experience in designing precast and/or prestressed concrete components and/or structures.
  • Ability to prepare engineering calculations, structural drawings, and details.
  • Verify that field conditions satisfy construction documents.  
  • Ability to work as part of a team to provide deliverables and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to check drawings and to coordinate with clients (architects, other engineers, general contractors, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of codes such as ASBI, PCI, AASHTO, ACI, ASCE, etc.
  • Capable of running computer software for geometry control.
  • Coordinating and working with inspectors for field reviews, data collection and analysis, studies and forecasting.
  • Assist in collecting and managing data for engineering or construction work such as to perform quantity take-offs for development of engineering estimate.
  • Assist in assuring that drawings, calculations and designs are in accordance with company production and design standards and strengths, and follow Quality Assurance and Control procedure.
  • Assist in the preparation of project data for schedules, assist in preparing schedules and budgets in order to monitor progress reports.
  • Ability to provide quality control/quality assurance to ensure deliverables are high quality and on-time.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering required. MS in Civil Engineering preferred.
  • Florida PE License required.
  • At least 6+ years precast yard related experience is required.
  • Requires knowledge of engineering principals and industry standards.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings required.
  • Ability to communicate clearly (written and oral).
  • Experience coordinating with multiple contractors and trades at one time in the field.
  • Knowledge of meeting construction schedules and budgets.
  • Must possess communication and interpersonal skills necessary for effective project team collaboration and relationship building.
