The Project Engineer/Project Manager - Rail and Transit, Central Region is responsible for leading project teams in the overall implementation of rail transit projects or contracts. Administers contracts, meets client requirements, regulatory agency criteria, and company commitments. Serve as the client’s representative, providing oversight guidance and/or direction for the project team, contractors, and subcontractors. Lead important business development activity by presenting the organization’s project capabilities, establishing client relationships, and procuring work.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes ownership of assigned projects and executes successfully.
  • Monitors budgets and schedules of assigned projects.
  • Identifies potential project prospects and assists/leads in preparation of technical proposals to support marketing efforts.
  • Serves as Project Manager on a rail and transit projects.
  • Responsible for assigned project delivery and quality of deliverables.
  • Identify and recommend potential candidates to be hired for the rail/transit.
  • Prepares proposals and participates in client interviews.
  • Maintain membership in professional societies.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or building/construction-related field required.
  • The position requires project experience on large, multi-disciplinary rail transit projects. Specifically, experience should demonstrate the ability to manage multiple disciplines working in parallel while also managing schedule requirements.
  • Experienced in advancing projects through various stages of the FTA project development process providing services to both existing and new clients in the areas of capital planning and project delivery, operations and maintenance plans, fleet management plans, and/or areas related to the design and operations of transit services.
  • 8+ years of project management experience and 12 years of overall experience, with an emphasis on preliminary engineering and/or final engineering for rail/transit projects.
  • Knowledge of and experience with transit studies, planning, NEPA and/or design of multi-discipline projects and projects with high degree of technical complexity, typically in excess of $500 million.
  • Effective project management and task management skills. Serves as a project director or project manager for key transit projects, or contributes in a support role as appropriate.
  • Works on select key projects and provides technical expertise to direct tasks, provide quality control reviews, and oversight as needed.
  • Establish/foster teaming relationships with other consulting firms and collaborate with alternative delivery staff to form relationships with contractors.
  • Successful candidate will have a history of developing and maintaining effective business relationships with clients and peers.
