Our East Region is seeking an Aviation Engineering Design Leader with technical expertise in airport airside and/or landside design, marketing and business development skills and to serve as a Doer/Seller in the East District Aviation Market. The duties associated with this position are comprehensive and include business development, client contact, project management, and directing and planning the work of staff.


  • Lead the development and periodic updates of strategic plans for engineering operations.
  • Establish a list of Strategic projects for TYLin that will be developed and won with the collaboration of the designated lines of business. Facilitate the process for winning these projects.
  • Directs the preparation, tracking and submission of the project deliverables.
  • Prepares and tracks projects, ensuring delivery of projects on time and within budget.
  • Contributes to winning aviation airside and/or landside projects as Project Manager or key team member. Assumes the financial, staffing, scope and schedule management responsibilities of that role.
  • Mentor Engineering staff.
  • Build strong client relationships and gain repeat business.
  • Serves as client contact. Negotiates fees and contracts; manages expectations; and assures client satisfaction related to projects.
  • Develop action plans for the Engineering group, with tactical plans for targeted pursuits.  Specify and achieve target sales goals within designated marketplace.
  • Develop and implement a cross discipline and inter-business line Quality Assurance process.  
  • Maintain and expand existing business relationships in the East Region Aviation market.
  • Has demonstrated experience and can serve as key technical lead in planning/design/construction of significant aviation projects.
  • Support review of contracts for compliance with TYLin policies and procedures
  • Build a collaborative leadership among the leadership team.
  • Serve as expert team member or technical advisor for select projects where expertise is needed.
  • Lead the proposal preparation effort for aviation design projects and attend interviews, working with Regional Marketing and Technical staff.
  • As needed, lead general business development and marketing activities, including developing strategies for cultivating prospects and obtaining work, preparing proposals, and leading interview preparation and presentations. 
  • Define and ensure effective execution/adherence of the overall TYLin company initiative.
  • Regularly travels to meet and interact with prospective teaming partners and clients.
  • Represent TYLin in applicable professional/business organizations, conferences, seminars, etc.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
  • Preferred Professional Engineer license in the State of New York, New Jersey.
  • Minimum 10+ years of design and business development experience within the aviation consulting industry.
  • Track record of developing new clients, winning work, and maintaining positive client relationships.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Strong leadership, business acumen, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-developed negotiation, proposal and project management skills.
  • Client focused, always striving to give clients the best solutions.

TYLin is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $143,900 - $215,900 annually for this position and local market.
